Job Description - Food Operations Manager 1






Role Overview






Sodexo is seeking a Food Operations Manager to support dining and retail operations at East Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas. This position is ideal for an experienced food service leader with a strong background in residential dining, retail food operations, and customer service a high-volume operations.









What You'll Do






  • Lead daily operations across residential dining and retail food venues, ensuring efficient execution and exceptional customer service;

  • Supervise, train, and develop frontline staff to foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement;

  • Support catering operations and special events, ensuring successful planning and execution;

  • Manage labor scheduling, productivity, and staffing to meet operational needs;

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and Sodexo standards;

  • Assist with inventory management, cost controls, and operational reporting;

  • Partner with culinary and campus leadership teams to support dining programs and enhance the overall guest experience.

  • Experience managing food service operations in a high-volume dining, retail, hospitality, or campus environment;
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop diverse teams;
  • Knowledge of retail food concepts, customer service best practices, and operational excellence;
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a focus on service and quality;
  • Proficiency with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance standards.

Qualifications & Requirements






Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Management Experience - 2 years
Minimum Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
