Job Description - Food Program Manager


Position Purpose:          

The Food Program Manager is responsible for providing nutrition services to tribal members and the Community. This position will work directly with vendors, sponsors, and nonprofits to provide the best market and resource experience to the community. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer Food Distribution Program.
  • Manage nutrition contracts and grants.
  • Maintain stock records and documentation.
  • Manage store and warehouse.
  • Oversee Food Distribution policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local and regional producers/distributors. 
  • Organize work in a timely manner to meet all deadlines and schedules.
  • Participate in food delivery and nutrition education. 
  • Act as a liaison between the community, city, and state to maintain awareness of changes in food access and program development. 
  • Prepare data and analysis to relay the importance of programs and advocates for improvements. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Candidate possesses a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, Ag Business, Social Work or related field. 
  • Candidate has some Nutrition/ Nutrition Education Experience.
  • Candidate possesses a Food Handler Permit (preferred). 
  • Candidate possesses strong communication skills to continue existing vendor relationships
  • Candidate possesses some grant management (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational and record-keeping skills are necessary for accurate maintenance of files, correspondence and follow-up.
  • Proficiency with computers and programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, EMR and the Internet.
  • Food pantry knowledge (preferred)
  • Ability to operate diesel box truck, forklifts, etc. (preferred)
  • Self-starter

Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License and Insurance.
  • Food Handler Permit (preferred) 

Conditions of Employment:

The Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma operates a drug-free workplace.

  • Must submit to and pass applicable drug test.
  • Must pass background investigations for suitability of character identified in accordance with

the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, and Child Care and Development Fund, 45 C.F.R. § 98.43(a)(2).

  • Adhere to all work rules, policies & procedures, and safety standards.

Requirements

Work Requirements:

Position involves prolonged sitting, standing, stooping, bending, lifting, or carrying heavy loads on a daily basis. Work requires general physicality and a great deal of movement. Work is performed in a variety of environments including vehicles and office environments with varying levels of lighting, air quality, noise, and / or temperature.
