Responsibilities
- Follow and enforce all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Oversee safe, efficient operations, including forklift, baler, and other equipment use and maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to and improvement of protocols for receiving, processing, and shipping materials.
- Maintain records for inbound and outbound materials.
- Develop and monitor QA/QC protocols for outbound recyclables.
- Coordinate with downstream recycling facilities, including the Maryland Bioenergy Center, for the transport and acceptance for recyclables.
- Track KPIs, operational data, and financial performance using spreadsheets.
- Help establish budgets and manage expenses within these budgets.
- Manage daily workflow, prioritizing tasks to meet waste removal and recycling goals.
- Analyze and report operational performance, recommending improvements.
- Drive efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainability initiatives.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization.
- Report safety concerns, equipment issues, and operational discrepancies to management.
Employee Management
- Supervise a team of up to 10 staff.
- Lead interviews and hiring to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
- Oversee employee time and attendance for accuracy and compliance.
- Address and resolve internal team conflicts professionally.
- Manage external disputes with drivers, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Train, mentor, and guide staff on best practices, safety, and company standards.
- Resolve operational and personnel issues promptly.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2+ years in a supervisory role within warehouse, industrial, or waste management settings.
- Forklift certification and proficiency in operating forklifts.
- Knowledge of recycling processes, warehouse operations, and related equipment.
- Experience leading teams, training staff, and managing hiring and conflict resolution.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets and tracking metrics.
- Ability to analyze performance data and troubleshoot operational issues.
- Commitment to safety standards and maintaining a clean workplace.
- Physical capability to lift 50 pounds and work in varying conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility and Physical Strength:
- Must have the physical strength to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs pounds.
- Capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing as necessary throughout the shift.
- Hand-eye coordination, attention to safety and detail, and the ability to work efficiently in dynamic environments
- Environmental Conditions:
- Able to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including exposure to high and low temperatures, humidity, rain, and wind.
- Capable of withstanding unpleasant odors and common food allergens
- Work at Heights and Confined Spaces:
- May need to be harnessed to safely reach areas of the facility for maintenance or inspection, sometimes at heights or in confined spaces.
- Sensory and Communication Requirements:
- Must have adequate vision, hearing, and dexterity to perform duties safely and effectively, with or without assistive devices or accommodations.
- Capable of communicating effectively in an industrial setting to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Additional Physical Requirements:
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary, which may include respiratory protection, gloves, hard hats, and protective clothing.
