Department: Food Safety and Quality
Pay: $20 - $22/hour
Schedule: 5am - 3:30pm Mon-Thur
Position Overview:
In this hands-on role, primarily based on the production floor, the Food Safety and Quality Control Technician will be instrumental in maintaining Teeccino's high product quality standards. The position demands strong proficiency in both Spanish and English for clear cross-departmental communication and reporting. This position will be responsible for observing, documenting, and ensuring compliance with our process controls and product specifications. This role reports to our Chief Development Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
GMP and Compliance Activities:
- Maintain daily scale calibration logs to ensure equipment accuracy.
- Manage the sharps log as appropriate.
- Conduct environmental testing, including swabbing and recording results.
- Run appropriate testing on packaging machines after cleaning per production log.
- Assist in managing and resolving non-conformance issues as they arise.
- Learn and apply GMP basics to ensure proper training is conducted.
- Conduct proficiency testing where necessary, such as gluten testing.
Quality Control (QC) Checks and Daily Monitoring:
- Perform thorough inspections of products coming off the production line to ensure all components and packaging information are accurate.
- Maintain and update Food Safety and QC documents as necessary to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Verify batch staging processes as required.
Certificate of Analysis (COA) Documentation and Testing:
- Conduct COA testing for blended bulk products according to established procedures.
- Perform COA testing for specific ingredients used in our processes.
- Ensure COAs are received for all incoming ingredients, where applicable.
- Perform other laboratory tests periodically as required.
Material Handling and Production Support:
- Pull necessary raw materials and packaging from the warehouse for production.
- Ensure all materials are correctly identified and documented before use in production.
- Assist with initial assessment and approval of incoming raw materials according to established protocols.
- Ensure inventory of PPE materials is sufficient for production needs.
Requirements:
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and production demands.
- Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Willingness to undergo drug testing in specific scenarios.
- HACCP Certification (can be obtained after hiring).
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- HACCP or Food Safety Certification.
- Experience in training program development.
- High level of self-motivation and performance orientation.
- Proficient in using PC software (Microsoft Word, Excel).
- Strong analytical and statistical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Forklift-certified a plus.
