In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of food safety and quality policies, procedures, and compliance programs aligned with federal, state, GFSI, customer, certification, and internal standards. Responsibilities include resolving compliance-related issues, reviewing regulatory matters, and providing food safety guidance to the company, manufacturing facilities, and warehouses. This position also serves as a liaison with regulatory agencies and internal business and legal teams to address quality and food safety compliance concerns.

Day-to-Day Objectives:
- Serve as the subject matter expert on applicable food safety regulations and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor and report on emerging food safety and quality issues; recommend strategies and develop policies and procedures to mitigate risks. Provide expert advice on complex regulatory concerns.
- Serve as the back-up recall coordinator and act as liaison with regulatory agencies during recall events.
- Conduct frequent and unscheduled food safety and sanitation audits.
- Monitor and assist distribution to comply with local, state and federal food safety and health standards, including personal hygiene and hand washing, temperature control of potentially hazardous foods, cross contamination control, pest control and chemical use training.
- Monitor Food Safety and Sanitation self-inspection and record keeping requirements.
- Implement plans to address noted deficiencies to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable health regulations.
- Educate and train personnel on food safety standards and regulations.
- Stay updated on local, state, and federal food safety laws and regulations.
- Lead in the development and maintenance of the company’s Environmental, Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance program management system to ensure proper regulatory certifications, accreditations, licensure and employee training efforts are current and accessible.
- Create synergy and compile the knowledge and expertise across the organization to develop a comprehensive, systematic and structured Environmental Management system that incorporates a Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle.
- Monitor and remain up to date with proposed legislative and regulatory activities and develop Company input on such proposals as needed.
- Remain knowledgeable of concepts, practices and procedures related to the wholesale and retail grocery industry. Rely on extensive experience and judgment to accomplish goals.
- Provide counsel and assistance to all departments, subsidiaries and customers directly affected by governmental regulations specific to environmental protection, public health and food safety.

Requirements
To Be a Successful Candidate, You will Need the Following Experience & Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene or similar field preferred; or a combination of relevant education and experience.
- Eight-years of experience in food manufacturing, produce facility, food safety, environmental health or a combination of relevant education and experience.
- Ability to act with the highest professionalism, exercise independent judgment and decision-making under conditions of uncertainty.
- Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively at all levels throughout the organization to build and maintain the positive relationships required to accomplish organizational goals.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal/team effectiveness – ability to succinctly and accurately communicate to various levels of management and employees through verbal and written communication skills.
