The Food Services Manager advances Worship Center’s mission to love God and love people by setting the atmosphere of our onsite café. They do this by leading a team of staff and volunteers, providing quality food products, and maintaining a safe, efficient, professional, sanitary, and profitable kitchen. The Food Services Manager should have a passion for hospitality by providing an excellent dining experience with a service-oriented mindset that supports ministries throughout the church. This person reports to the Executive Pastor of Operations.
Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt position requiring 40-45 hours per week. The schedule includes Sunday mornings, designated hours during the week, and occasional flexibility for events outside of regular hours.
Experience & Abilities
- Education: Minimum High School graduate.
- Experience: Previous hospitality/food service experience and management experience preferred. Must have knowledge of food costs and how to build menus.
- License/Certification: SERVSafe Certification and valid PA Driver’s license.
- Specific Abilities: Excellent written, oral, and computer skills desired. Applicants must be able to handle a fast-paced, demanding, and changing environment with flexibility. Must be able to work a flexible and demanding schedule.
What This Person Does
- Maintain a working knowledge of food safety standards and best practices, meeting the highest standards of workplace sanitation/equipment care and safety as set by Health Department and WC policies. In compliance with OSHA through proper HACCP planning.
Ensure staff and volunteers understand and follow standards by providing ongoing culinary and food and beverage production training. Also, provide ongoing coaching and recognition to affirm the team.
Maintain food cost goals by monitoring waste, proper storage, and product handling. (FIFO) Ensure items are labeled, dated, rotated, and stored properly.
Prevent the spoiling and contamination of foods by enforcing proper sanitation.
Serve as a team leader for café staff, providing direction, encouragement, and feedback through regular one-to-one meetings.
Recruit and train volunteers, including team leaders, for Sunday Café and other events to ensure that an adequate number of volunteers are scheduled and duties are clearly defined, resulting in efficiency and attention to detail.
Provide ongoing leadership, training, and encouragement to the food service volunteers
Manage production priorities:
Monitor preparation and production of all café food items and catered events and ensure the highest quality control with plate presentation.
Create and develop menu items with seasonal recipe rotations.
Oversee the creation and delivery of attractive food displays and the execution of events.
Meet with WC Ministry Leaders regarding their departmental food service needs, make recommendations, and develop creative and cost-effective menus based on attendance numbers, budget, and ease of operation.
Responsible for managing our database related to food services requests: respond to last-minute ministry needs such as meals for funerals, etc.
Manage budgets and ensure monetary balances are settled and accurate.
Department billing at the end of the month.
Perform other duties as assigned.
