Job Description - Food Specialist

30 hours per week | Full Year Position | $17.54 – 18.26 / Hour

Job Overview: We are a fast-paced and high-demand non-profit program that depends on everybody in every position to help our centers function with ease. You will gain diverse experience working with an at-risk population. Cross training is available and expected for all positions.



Responsibilities and Duties:



  • Responsible meal preparation and for purchasing necessary supplies and food for meal preparation in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

  • Operate, sanitize, and maintain kitchen equipment

  • Complete paperwork as required according to Head Start and CACFP guidelines

  • Assist in menu planning


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED (required)

  • Valid driver's license (required)

  • Food Protection Managers Certificate or working towards certificate (preferred)

  • Experience in commercial food preparation (required)

  • Ability to obtain SERV Safe certification (Norwescap will support cost of obtaining SERV Safe Certification)


The successful candidate will be: compassionate, organized, flexible, communicator, team-player



Physical abilities: Must be able to lift 45 pounds independently without assistance
