Job Requirements: This is an intradepartmental promotion, only Finance Department employees can apply for this position. Work requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or educational substitution clause applies.

Job Duties and Essential Functions:

The purpose of this position is to supervise all accounting personnel, invest idle funds, oversee maintenance of accounting records, assist Finance Director in managing the operations of the Finance Department and perform other various accounting functions. This is accomplished by overseeing the work of all accounting personnel to ensure work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. Other duties include maintaining investment, bond payment, grants, and capital project revenue and expenses. Additional duties include balancing checkbook and bank statements, ensuring accuracy of bank records and cash reports, assisting auditors, maintaining general ledger, and assisting in preparation of City's budget. Supervisory responsibilities include performing duties in the absence of the Finance Director. A complete list of duties and responsibilities has been attached to the job announcement.

An oral exam (interview) will be administered as the promotional test for the Assistant Finance Director position.
