Summary:

Responsible for assisting in the daily management and operations of the golf course and overseeing the weekend maintenance operations. Works to coordinate the scheduling of maintenance staff and maintain safe working conditions. Steps in to perform maintenance duties when needed. Oversee special projects. 

Essential job functions:

• Perform various maintenance duties and operate equipment in order to maintain the golf course in proper playing condition according to Company standards.
• Plan and implement staffing schedules to ensure quality standards are achieved at minimum employee cost. 
• Supervise and perform all planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, and trees on the golf course and grounds. 
• Supervise equipment maintenance and repair operations. Work in collaboration with the golf course mechanic to establish and implement a cleaning and preventative maintenance program for appropriate equipment, tools, vehicles, etc.
• Ensure maintenance of all appropriate quality and cleanliness standards including, but not limited to, employee hygiene and uniforms, equipment repair areas, equipment storage areas, fertilizer storage areas, receiving areas, washing areas, lunch room areas, restrooms, etc.
• Monitor the purchase ordering and receiving program to maintain proper inventories of supplies and ensure proper quantity and price on all purchases.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, OSHA rules and regulations, employee safety, public safety, etc.
• Maintain accurate records for department activities including, but not limited to, labor schedules, course maintenance, construction activities, equipment repair, safety meetings and activities. Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary and related reports. Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade associations and organizations.

Requirements

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to frequently sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk and crouch 
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and to lift overhead and push/pull, move lighter objects.
• The co-worker can be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. 
• The employee is occasionally exposed to wildlife such as snakes, scorpions, spiders, bees and hornets

Qualifications:

• Minimum of two years’ golf course maintenance experience
• Knowledge of OSHA practices.
• Experience and knowledge of golf course operations
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong observational skills and detail oriented
• Valid Driver’s license
• Must be able to operate trucks and motorized equipment necessary for golf course maintenance, and have the ability to work independently. 
• Requires ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs.
