Job Description - Foreman

Job Description


The Foreman is responsible for supervising onsite crews of journey persons, carpenters, and laborers, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and on schedule. In addition, the Foreman is in charge of ordering constructions materials, creating project schedules, and calculating the amount of time, labor, and materials needed for each project. With strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the Foreman ensures the smooth flow of operations while also applying their trade experience to participate in hands-on work.



Role and Responsibilities



  • Direct, assign and supervise work crew, coordinating tasks according to priorities and plans

  • Calculate the amount of labor, time, and materials needed for each project

  • Plan activities for crew a minimum of one week in advance

  • Create and adjust project schedules

  • Order materials from plans, asking questions when necessary to obtain accurate information

  • Maintain accurate records of all work done by crew

  • Meet goals and expectations in your Plan of Action (POA)

  • Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met

  • Read and understand plans; be able to locate details

  • Follow instructions and execute tasks with little supervision

  • Access plans using computer and tablet

  • Perform all carpentry duties required, including both rough and finish carpentry

  • Frame any roof system and stair system

  • Install multiple layered trim and crown molding

  • Form complicated concrete pours

  • Understand the concept of cutting radiuses and other curves

  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems as they arise

  • Clean up all CCI jobs to the standards and requirements of CCI policy

  • Bill all project-related hours worked to the appropriate project(s)

  • Perform other duties as assigned



Hiring Requirements



  • Dependable and timely

  • Eight to ten years of experience

  • Strong understanding of geometry and math

  • Ability to follow directions quickly and efficiently

  • Ability to work effectively with others

  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills

  • Valid Driver’s License and dependable transportation

  • Smart Phone and/or Tablet skills to use Procore app



Physical Requirements


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.



  • Able to stand and walk for a 10-12-hour day

  • Able to lift 50 , including overhead

  • Able to perform physical and repetitive motions

  • Able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis

  • Able to see, talk, and hear

  • Able to climb permanent and temporary stairs

  • Able to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction

  • 7 ¼” Circular Saw, Electrical Reciprocating Saw

  • 1” Utility Chisel, Hammer-Tacker, Multiple Bit Screwdriver

  • 12” Crescent Wrench, Flat Bar (wonder-bar), Nail Puller (cats-paw)

  • 30-35’ Tape Measure, Extension Cord - 12 gauge 100’

  • 100’ Air-Hose with ¼” fittings, Speed Square, Chalk Line, Keel/Crayon-Marker

  • Cordless Kit (Drill, Impact Driver, Reciprocal Saw, Circular Trim Saw)

  • 4ft Level, Finish Hammer Framing Square, String Line, Plumb-bob, 4’ Ladder

  • Drill Bit (Paddle Bits ¼” – 1 ½”)

  • 2ft Level, 6ft Level, Coping Saw, Block Plane, Quality Chisel Set, Belt Sander, Wood/Metal Files

  • Hand-Held Power Planer, Jig Saw, Palm/Orbital Sander, Clamp Set

  • (Fein) Multi-Tool



Required Personal Protective Equipment


These Items Are Required on The Jobsite Every Day, Whether in Use or Not



  • Protective Eyewear and Hard Hat

Additional Training/Certification


The following certifications are required for this position. If an employee does not have the certifications, they will be required to obtain them within 6 months of the date of hire or transfer into the position.



  • CCI Annual General Construction Safety Training

  • First Aid/ CPR Certification

  • OSHA 10 Certification

  • Forklift Operator’s Certification

  • Hoisting / Rigging / Signaling

  • Aerial Boom and Scissor Lifts



Compensation and Benefits


This is an hourly position. The hourly range is $30-$50 DOE. Clark Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer.


In addition, Clark offers the following benefits to full-time staff with this position:



Paid Time Off: 80 hours per calendar year of paid time off (“PTO”) for sick, vacation, and personal time.



Paid Holidays: There are 9 paid holidays each year:



  • New Year’s Day

  • Martin Luther King Day

  • President's Day

  • Memorial Day

  • 4th of July

  • Labor Day

  • Thanksgiving and the Friday after Thanksgiving

  • Christmas Day



Insurance: Employees are eligible for medical, dental and vision insurance on their first day of work. We offer two options for health care insurance and pay 100% of the employee’s monthly premium for either option. Health care insurance is available for spouses and dependent(s); however, the employee is responsible for 50% of the premium for his/her spouse and dependent(s). Additional supplemental insurance benefits including Hospital Indemnity, Accident, Critical Illness, Life and AD&D Insurance may be purchased through CCI’s policy with The Hartford at your own expense.



401K: CCI has a 401K program to assist employees in saving for retirement. Employees are eligible to designate how much they would like to contribute to their 401K account starting their first day of work. CCI offers a 401k match program, matching up to 4% of the employee's annual pay.



Bonuses: Bonuses, such as performance or project-based bonuses, may be distributed throughout the year.



Cell Stipend: You are eligible to receive a $500/year cell phone stipend, paid quarterly at the end of each quarter. You must be employed during the entire quarter to be eligible for that period.
