Job Description - Forensic Peer Specialist


Forensic Peer Specialist

Come grow with us! South County Mental Health Center, Inc. is a private, non-profit Joint Commission Accredited Behavioral Healthcare provider located in South East Palm Beach County, Florida. Situated in the nationally designated city of Delray Beach, the Center provides a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care to clients and their families in surrounding communities.  You can make a positive impact in the community on day 1! 

The Forensic Peer Specialist will support clients in their recovery journey; teaching skills and finding resources to help clients accomplish goals and to attain and maintain their desired level of functioning while being overseen by a Conditional Release Order through Mental Health Court. 
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY
· Provide Face to Face Peer support

· Telephonic Support
· Activities involving Client’s Right’s and Advocacy
· Facilitate support groups
· Use of WRAP—Wellness Recovery Action Plan
· Meet with clients in the CSU to provide support
· Assist with applications for benefits and services.
· Refer clients to appropriate support services
· Adhere to Florida Certification Board regulations that govern Peer Specialist activities
· Meets with individual consumers to introduce the concept of WRAP and assist each consumer in writing and maintaining  their own WRAP Plan.
· Documents Individual and Group services in the EMR. 

· Develops and reviews Individual Treatment/Goal Plans
· Attends and Participates in department meetings and staffing’s as requested.

· Meets with Supervisor for ongoing supervision and guidance.

The peer specialist must
possess the ability to assess client behaviors, determine when intervention is necessary and seek appropriate assistance as necessary. Can work with computer programs to complete documentation and access resources.  Must have the ability to document services in a timely manner and communicate verbally and in writing any issues or concerns.  Will need to be a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist for the state of Florida or actively working towards Certification.

Minimum Education and Experience

· Completion of the 40 hour Recovery Peer Specialist training, approved by the Florida Certification Board.

· Certified by the Florida Certification Board as a Recovery Peer Specialist or working towards certification.
· Must be a consumer of mental health services.

Schedule is 8 hour shifts.
