Forest Inventory Manager

• Maintain timber management data for timberlands located across the southern U.S. as well as Brazil. Manage more than two dozen SQL databases – each containing up to 90+ individual data tables with hundreds of unique fields and formats.
• Develop and create SQL scripts (code) to address forestry management issues and queries, including R-programming and Basic (visual and .Net) programming to automate tasks related to RMS forest management data. Implement thorough understanding of the afore-mentioned SQL databases as well as the reporting requirements of RMS clients.
• Maintain and update RMS proprietary data system FIS, for updating and projecting timber inventory data. This proprietary inventory management system is fundamental to the success of RMS moving forward.
• Develop and enhance reporting tools used by parties inside RMS (Accounting, Investment Management, Valuation Committee) and outside of RMS (RMS clients, external financial auditors, independent appraisers), including the following reports:
• Expanded SOP (Sum of Parts valuation application)
• Inventory/timber cruise effort (number of cruises, number of sample plots by time period)
• Percent complete report/application (proprietary application used to ensure timber inventory data accounts for partial harvests appropriately
• FIS system OutError report – this report will ensure that Forest Planners creating optimally sustainable harvest plans can quickly and easily identify data issues that may result in stand level simulations failing to complete successfully.
• Provide forestry management insight and data as an active player in the timberland parcellation reporting. (Unique process for evaluation, reporting and reconciliation for RMS’s land size split).

Master’s degree in Forestry, Forest Biometrics, or Forest Resources and Conservation, or closely related plus at least 18 months experience as a Forest Inventory Analyst using RMS forestry data systems, monitoring and maintaining database of timberlands managed across U.S. and Brazil, maintaining timber management data/databases using SQL databases. Up to 20% domestic and international travel to Brazil.
