Job Description - Forger IV


Set up, operate, or tend forging machines to shape or form metal parts. Coaches and mentors Level I, II, and III Forgers. Work mostly independently under guidance and supervision of lead and Is a subject matter expert (SME).  Acts as backup in Lead's absence.

 

•Set up, operate, or tend forging machines to perform hot forging to taper, shape, or form metal
•Read work orders or blueprints to determine specified tolerances and sequences of operations for machine setup
•Measure and inspect machined parts to ensure conformance to product specifications
•Adjust concentricity under no supervision
•Enter correct and timely job information into Visual Esti Track (VET)
•Keep accurate counts and documentation for all jobs with little monitoring of counts
•Acts as backup in Lead's absence
•Follow all company safety rules, company rules, policies and procedures as well as any applicable work instructions, specifications and requirements
•Participate in 6S activities daily
•Log into and out of systems correctly for timekeeping and job data


Requirements

•HS diploma or equivalent or equivalent combination of experience/education
•4-6 years of related experience

•Advanced knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods including knowledge of forging processes and forge set-ups that have complex dimensions such as protrusions and wrenching height
•Basic knowledge of arithmetic, and conversions of measurements
•Advanced  knowledge of heat setting materials, to include all alloy materials and some stainless steel
•Skilled in operating or controlling operations of equipment or systems, including springhead forging equipment
•Skilled in watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
•Skilled in active listening and following instructions given to complete production tasks
•Skilled in monitoring and assessing performance of machinery and equipment
•Skilled in basic quality control analysis (conducting tests and inspections of products and materials to ensure precision and conformance)
•Troubleshooting skills
•Ability to pay great attention to detail
•Ability to measure most dimensions of finished work pieces (to include advanced dimensions such as protrusions and wrenching height) to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments
•Arm-hand steadiness
•Dependability
•multi-limb coordination abilities to coordinate two or more limbs while standing to complete tasks such as using CNC machinery or equipment
•Ability to quickly respond to signals or indicators
•Ability to quickly move to grasp, manipulate, or assemble object
•Ability to convey and understand oral and written information effectively
•Ability to learn heat set up of raw materials
•Ability to work with MP35N material
•Ability to perform full set-ups with no supervision, including of alloy materials
•Ability to perform heat set of all raw materials
•Ability to work with MP35N material
