Forklift Driver

Description

At Leonard's Express, Inc. we are looking for a Forklift Driver at our Shortsville Cold and Frozen Warehouse. This position requires forklift certification, but you have the experience, we can certify you. Please apply today!

All job duties must be performed in a way that promotes safe practices in accordance with Leonard’s established safety programs.

• $20 to $20.50 per hour based on experience

The ideal employee will:

• Maintain weekday availability, occasional weekends with overtime
• Be forklift certified or be willing to be certified by us
• Be willing to work in a cold/frozen warehouse
• Possession of a current and valid Class A CDL is a plus

The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include:

• Unloads trailers received and places products in the appropriate location in the warehouse
• Loads trailers according to directions on the individualized load sheet provided for each trailer
• Ensures compliance to all company policies and procedures pertaining to food safety
• Performs safety check on forklift and reports any issues with machinery to warehouse foreman
• Ensures proper and accurate product counts throughout shipping and receiving process
• Maintains cleanliness in trailers
• Maintains cleanliness of warehouse
• Maintains product integrity such as ensuring refrigerated items are always maintained at appropriate temperature while at the warehouse and reducing damaged product by using proper moving techniques

Requirements

The professional skills and abilities an ideal candidate should possess include:

• Sound organizational, records management, time management skills, and attention to detail
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills, well-developed verbal and written communication skills, plus the ability to work both as an individual contributor and a team member
• The ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and meet assigned deadlines
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, as well as to accept direction on given assignments

Based on the technical and professional responsibilities of the position, the Forklift Driver is required to have:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• 2 years’ experience as forklift driver
• Equipment Certificates: Fork-lift, clamp truck, pallet jack desirable

The Forklift Driver is primarily located in a warehouse environment with moderate to high noise level and cold to freezing temperature conditions. Physical requirements include:

• Regularly lifting up to 25 pounds and up to 80 pounds periodically
• Regularly required to drive and safely maneuver forklift with excellent manual dexterity
