The Role
A Warehouse Operator at Silver Hills Bakery is responsible for the safe and efficient handling, storage, and movement of raw materials and finished bakery products. This role supports production and distribution by ensuring inventory accuracy, proper storage conditions, and timely shipment of products while following food safety and workplace safety standards.
Detailed Description of Duties
Shipping & Receiving
Loading/Unloading: Safely load and unload trailers using pallet jacks or forklifts.
Verification: Check incoming shipments against BOLs (Bills of Lading) to ensure accuracy in quantity and quality.
Order Picking: Accurately pick and stage orders for outbound shipments based on daily pick sheets.
Inventory & Organization
Stock Rotation: Follow First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principles to ensure ingredient and product freshness.
Organization: Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse; ensure all pallets are wrapped securely and stored in their designated locations.
Documentation: Accurately fill out paperwork and record inventory movements in the system.
Compliance & Safety
Safety First: Strictly adhere to all safety policies, including the safe operation of all warehouse equipment and proper lifting techniques.
GMP & SOPs: Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain food safety standards.
Equipment Care: Conduct daily pre-shift inspections on equipment and report any maintenance needs to the Supervisor.

Character & Abilities
Physical Stamina: You are comfortable lifting up to 23kg (50 lbs) and being on your feet for the duration of your shift.
Detail-Oriented: You have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that every shipment is accurate and every label is correct.
Team Player: You enjoy working in a collaborative environment and are willing to assist other departments when needed.
Skills & Experience
Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment (food manufacturing experience is a plus).
Equipment Knowledge: Proficiency in operating electric pallet jacks; forklift certification is an asset.
Communication: Good interpersonal skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Flexibility: Ability to work flexible shifts to meet the demands of our production and shipping schedules.
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Basic computer skills for inventory tracking.
