Overview:    

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our dynamic and supportive team at Northwest Paper Box.

In this role you will operate various types of forklifts and material handling equipment, playing a key part in maintaining the efficient flow of goods within our facility. This is an excellent opportunity  for a reliable and detail-oriented individual to grow

Job Summary:

The Forklift Operator will utilize industrial forklifts, swing reach trucks, and/or man lifts to efficiently handle materials, retrieve stock, and fulfill customer orders. This role is essential to ensuring smooth operations and timely order processing within the facility.

 Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  •    None.

Schedule:

  • Normal hours will be 5:00 a.m. — 1:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Expect overtime, including some Saturdays.

  Duties/ Responsibilities:

Material Handling: 

  • Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations including machines, loading docks, trucks, and storage areas.
  • Utilize RF scanners to accurately track inventory and manage stock levels. 
  •  Obtains production schedule or shipping orders to verify and transports raw materials, equipment, or processing materials as needed.
  •  Apply knowledge of machine loading capacity and schedules to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of items.

Load Security and Safety:

  •  Use protective materials and strapping equipment to secure loads during transport.
  •  Remove strapping and wrapping upon delivery, disposing of waste materials in designated areas.
  •  Conduct routine equipment inspections, promptly reporting any mechanical or safety hazards to the manager.

Organization and Maintenance:

  •  Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all safety protocols.
  • Perform pallet yard cleanup, inventory management, and proper stacking of drums, skids, pallets, and other supplies in specified areas.

Reporting and Communication:

  •  Report any issues with materials, inventory, or transportation to the manager.
  •  Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and address challenges proactively.

Other Duties:

  •  Assist with additional tasks and responsibilities as requested to support operational needs.

   


Requirements

  •  Ability to handle equipment and vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Strong reading, communication and comprehension skills.
  • Proficiency in operating various materials handling equipment, including hand trucks, man lifts, cherry pickers, and pallet jacks.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Basic math skills for inventory and material tracking.
  • Familiarity with materials handling procedures and adherence to safety regulations.

Education and Experience: 

  • Successful completion of forklift driving training program (required).
  • Proven experience as a Forklift Operator or similar role within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with RF scanners for inventory management (preferred).

Physical Requirements:

· Must be in good physical condition and have good motor skills. 

· Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time. 

· Must have good hand/eye coordination. 

· Ability to maintain single task focus and situational awareness. 


Salary Description

21.50 per hour to start
