FORKLIFT OPERATOR - PRODUCTION TEAM

Description

Overview:

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count

merchandise. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform staging and loading in temperatures of 32 degrees inside the cooler.

Responsibilities:

Receiving/Put-Away: Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.

Efficiently stack and store the merchandise with the cooler in the appropriate areas.

Quality: Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality

variances.

Order Picking: Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of

product is loaded and shipped. Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer

service standards.

Loading: Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into trailers and or containers.

Equipment: Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, pallet jack squeeze lift or other power equipment. Acknowledge management system as scanning equipment pallet jack, squeeze list for picking, receiving, put away, and load functions, as required. Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.

Inventory: Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security

are maintained. Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation.

Safety, Sanitation, Security: Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the

security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA

and MSDS Standards.

Tablet: It is the responsibility of the forklift driver to care for the tablet. This includes cleaning, charging and reporting any damage to your supervisor soon as it occurs.

Skills and Abilities:

The Forklift Operator is responsible for using a forklift, squeeze lift, or other power equipment to load, unload,

move, stack, stage and count product and materials. Uses radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving and

put away, as required.

The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform

Staging and Loading and Checker duties.

Requirements

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception. And is working in a cooler with tempters of 32 degrees and below.

Requirements

Considerable overtime requirements during peak season.  Must be able to work longer days as needed.
