Job Description - Foster Care Family Consultant

Bloom Our Youth Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Georgia’s families and communities to transform the lives of children and youth impacted by foster care. Through foster care, prevention, and transitional programs, Bloom provides essential support that helps children and families thrive.

Serving more than 8,200 children and youth across the state of Georgia last year, Bloom brings its mission to life through initiatives such as Foster Care services, the Family Resource Center, Bloom University, Bloom Beyond, and the Bloom Closet.

We are a mission-driven, collaborative team committed to making a lasting impact—and we seek team members who are passionate about serving children and families with excellence and compassion.

Join a Mission-Driven Team that Values You
At Bloom, we believe in supporting our staff as wholeheartedly as we support the children and families we serve. Our team members enjoy meaningful work in a supportive, flexible environment designed to promote balance, growth, and connection. Here’s what sets Bloom apart:

  • Hybrid Schedule: Work from home with just one in-office day per week after training.

  • Family-Friendly Flexibility: Enjoy a schedule that supports your life outside of work, including flexibility for parents and caregivers.

  • Career Growth & Development: Access free, cutting-edge field trainings and certifications to strengthen your skills and advance your career.

  • Local Caseloads: Serve families in your own community — no long drives across the state.

  • Merit-Based Raises: Earn annual pay increases based on performance and contribution.

  • Generous Time Off: Receive 4 weeks of PTO, 10 paid holidays, and even a paid day off to celebrate your birthday.

  • Team Connection: Participate in quarterly team outings and fun activities that build camaraderie and celebrate our shared mission.

What You’ll Do:

  • Carry a caseload of 12–15 children placed in Bloom foster homes.

  • Collaborate with foster families to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each child's emotional, physical, and behavioral needs.

  • Advocate fiercely for children—working with schools, courts, doctors, and case managers to make sure their voices are heard and their needs are met.

  • Conduct regular home visits and compliance checks to ensure safety and support.

  • Be part of an on-call rotation to provide after-hours assistance and crisis response.

  • Coordinate child placements, supervise documentation and reporting, and participate in team meetings and case planning.

  • Support, guide, and equip foster parents through training and resource development.

Who You Are:

  • Passionate about child welfare and trauma-informed care.

  • Skilled in case management, family systems, and cross-agency collaboration.

  • Organized, compassionate, and deeply committed to ethical service.

  • Comfortable in the field, confident in crises, and always ready to advocate.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, education, counseling, or a related field.

  • At least two years’ experience in foster care case management preferred.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License.

  • Able to pass a criminal records check, child protective services check, and motor vehicle check.

  • Experience working in GA Shines and GA Score preferred.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Must have a caring and positive attitude and be passionate about helping children and families in the foster care system.

  • Computer efficiency with strong analytical skills and in- depth knowledge of child welfare best practices.
