Job Description - Founding Account Executive

About PressW

PressW is where some of the world's most ambitious companies come to actually ship AI.

We're redefining how businesses harness AI by building real systems for real clients, not just selling slides about what's possible. We're a team of three exited AI founders and a group of Applied AI Engineers based in Austin, and we've been heads-down for the last few years building this firm into something we're proud of: more than 70 production AI solutions shipped, 40+ clients across seven industries, and over $50M in measurable profit gains delivered. We work on the bleeding edge of what AI can do, guide our clients to the right solutions for their business, and ship the infrastructure they run on.

We sell across three divisions. Managed AI is our MSP, purpose-built for institutional investors: private equity firms, venture capital funds, asset managers, and capital markets clients. We map how a firm actually works, deploy custom agents into the workflows that consume deal teams' time (reading deal documents, drafting IC memos, scoring targets, triaging inbound, structuring offers, monitoring portfolio companies), and keep evolving those systems as models and firm needs change. AI Engineering embeds our teams directly with clients to build and harden production AI systems. AI Transformation handles roadmap and readiness work, helping leaders figure out what to build, in what order, and how to prepare for it.

About the Role

You're our founding Account Executive. You report directly to the CEO. You'll close new logos across all three of our divisions, and you'll write the sales motion that the next AEs we hire plug into.

This isn't a seat where you wait for marketing to fill your calendar. We have inbound, and it's getting better, but you'll generate a meaningful slice of your own pipeline. You'll prospect into private equity firms, venture funds, asset managers, and mid-market and enterprise buyers across capital markets, technology, services, and industrial sectors.

You're the deal quarterback. Solutions architects and engineers are part of your deal team (they join calls, scope the technical work, and help shape proposals), but you drive the cycle, own the relationship, and close the deal.

You sell something that isn't fully productized. Every PressW engagement is partly a custom build, and the buyer is making a real decision about how their organization works. The deals are bigger, the conversations are sharper, and "send me a proposal" almost always means send me a proposal.

In This Role, You Will

  • Close new logos across PressW's three divisions: Managed AI, AI Engineering, and AI Transformation.

  • Self-source roughly 30% of your pipeline. Prospect into private equity firms, VC funds, asset managers, and mid-market and enterprise buyers across our verticals.

  • Lead every sales cycle end-to-end: discovery, demo, scoping, and close. You're the deal quarterback; solutions architects and engineers are part of your deal team.

  • Co-author proposals and statements of work with our delivery teams.

  • Handle executive negotiation. You'll sit across the table from managing partners, chief investment officers, chief operating officers, and heads of technology.

  • Document what's working and what isn't. The playbook you build is what the next AE hires inherit.

  • Hand off cleanly to our delivery teams after close. This is a long-relationship business, and how you close shapes whether we keep the account.

What Year One Looks Like

  • You hit $2M+ in closed-won annual revenue.

  • You land 8 to 12 new logos across the three divisions.

  • Multi-division attach starts to show up on real accounts. Clients land in one division and expand into a second.

  • The repeatable sales motion you've built becomes the playbook the next AEs train on.

You'll Thrive Here If You

  • Have 5 to 8 years of enterprise sales experience at a top SaaS or services firm. You've carried a $1M+ quota and beaten it.

  • Have closed seven-figure deals as the deal lead.

  • Are comfortable selling something that isn't fully off-the-shelf. Every PressW engagement is partly bespoke, and you can navigate scoping conversations without losing the buyer.

  • Can self-source. You don't sit and wait for marketing to feed you.

  • Communicate with executive presence. Managing partners, CIOs, and COOs are your peers, not your obstacles.

  • Have been an early sales hire at a startup before, or you're obsessed with becoming one.

  • Are willing to travel to client sites as the deal calls for it (typically a few times a month).

  • Are based in Central Time. Austin preferred.

Strong Nice-to-Haves

  • Direct experience selling to institutional investors: private equity, venture capital, asset managers, family offices.

  • Experience selling AI, AI infrastructure, or AI consulting services.

  • Top-performer track record at an AI-native company or AI consulting firm. You've done roughly this job already.

  • Existing relationships you can bring into our target buyer set.
