The Opportunity
As a Founding Engineer, you’ll have true end-to-end ownership of systems and features that define our product. This is not a narrow role — you’ll work across mobile, web, backend, and data infrastructure, shaping the technology, architecture, and culture from day one.
Depending on your strengths, your focus might lean toward Full Stack Application Engineering, Backend/Data Systems, or a hybrid of both — but you should thrive in wearing multiple hats and working outside your comfort zone.
What You’ll Do
Architect & Build: Develop core features across mobile, web, and backend systems with a relentless focus on performance, scalability, and user delight.
Innovate in Mapping: Design and implement cutting-edge, interactive, map-based experiences for millions of users.
Integrate Intelligence: Power AI-driven features, intelligent agents, and real-time systems to make our maps dynamic and context-aware.
Own the Stack: From backend services and APIs to data pipelines and distributed architectures, take full responsibility for delivering end-to-end solutions.
Shape the Culture: Define best practices, processes, and technical direction for a high-performing engineering team.
Ship Fast: Move from idea to launch with speed, autonomy, and creativity.
What We’re Looking For
We’re open to different strengths and backgrounds, but ideally you bring experience in one or more of these domains:
Full Stack / Application Engineering
TypeScript & React (web)
Swift (iOS) and/or Kotlin/Java (Android)
Building performant, engaging UI/UX experiences
Working across the stack in a TypeScript backend environment
Backend & Data Engineering
Python and/or TypeScript for backend systems
Designing large-scale, distributed architectures and real-time pipelines
AI/LLM integration and intelligent agent development
Handling high-throughput, large-scale data systems
Bonus: Elasticsearch or similar search technologies
