Front Desk Coordinator / Medical Assistant
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Front Desk Coordinator / Medical Assistant to join our Vascular Surgery practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while supporting clinical operations. This role requires a blend of administrative skills and clinical support to ensure a seamless patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Front Desk/Administrative Duties:
Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression.
Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments using practice management software.
Manage patient check-in and check-out processes.
Verify patient insurance information and collect copayments.
Handle incoming calls, inquiries, and direct communication to appropriate staff.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Assist with billing and coding as needed.
Ensure waiting areas are clean, organized, and welcoming.
Medical Assistant/Clinical Support Duties:
Prepare examination rooms with necessary supplies and sterilize equipment.
Take and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.).
Assist vascular surgeons during exams and procedures.
Collect blood, urine, or other specimens for lab testing.
Provide patient education on pre- and post-procedure care.
Assist with minor procedures and wound care as directed.
Maintain inventory of medical supplies and notify management of replenishment needs.
Follow infection control and safety protocols.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience as a Medical Assistant and Front Desk Coordinator, preferably in a specialty clinic or surgical setting.
Knowledge of vascular surgery procedures and terminology is a plus.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with EHR systems and practice management software.
Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality.
Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional healthcare training is a plus.
