Front Desk Insurance Specialist

Company Overview:

On Demand Counseling, located in Austintown, OH, provides outpatient mental health and substance use disorders treatment in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties. 

Position Overview:

We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Medical Insurance Specialist to help support our billing team. This role will be sitting at the front desk assisting the Customer Care team with insurance eligibility checks and insurance questions. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in healthcare administration.

Responsibilities:

• Verify patient insurance information and coverage


• Verify demographic information


• Help prepare and mail patient statements


• Answer basic patient billing questions by phone or in person


• Assisting the Customer Care Team with any questions regarding eligibility/insurance verification process


• Follow privacy rules and protect patient information (HIPAA)


• Reach out to clients to discuss personal balance and discuss options


• Work closely with office staff to resolve insurance issues


• Assist the billing team with any tasks needed.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED 


• Insurance or healthcare training or coursework (preferred)


• Previous medical office or healthcare experience is a preferred


• Basic understanding of medical insurance (commercial plans, Medicare, Medicaid) required.


• Familiarity with copays, deductibles, and insurance coverage


• Comfortable using computers and Microsoft. Excel knowledge a plus


• Good attention to detail and organization skills


• Strong communication and customer service skills


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
