Position Overview
The Front of House (FOH) Director is responsible for leading all guest-facing operations while developing a strong, engaged team that delivers exceptional hospitality. This role ensures operational excellence, team development, and alignment with Chick-fil-A’s core values. The FOH Director works closely with other directors and leadership to drive consistency, accountability, and a remarkable guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop FOH team members and leaders
- Build leadership bench strength by identifying and mentoring high-potential team members
- Lead by example through a positive attitude, professionalism, and strong work ethic
- Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance evaluations, and coaching conversations
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
Guest Experience & Hospitality
- Ensure an exceptional guest experience in all FOH areas (dining room, drive-thru, front counter, mobile, curbside)
- Uphold Chick-fil-A service standards, including Core 4 and Second Mile Service
- Address guest concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring resolution and recovery
- Monitor guest feedback, surveys, and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement
Operational Excellence
- Oversee daily FOH operations to ensure speed, accuracy, cleanliness, and food safety
- Ensure proper staffing, positioning, and deployment during all dayparts
- Partner with BOH leadership to maintain strong communication and flow of operations
- Maintain FOH systems, checklists, and procedures for consistency
- Ensure compliance with brand standards, policies, and procedures
Training & Development
- Ensure all FOH team members are properly trained and certified for their roles
- Partner with Training leadership to execute onboarding and ongoing development
- Implement cross-training strategies to increase flexibility and performance
- Reinforce standards through ongoing coaching and real-time feedback
Scheduling & Labor Management
- Create and manage FOH schedules to align with business needs and labor targets
- Monitor labor usage and make adjustments to optimize efficiency
- Plan staffing needs around promotions, events, and seasonal volume changes
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate clearly and consistently with leadership and team members
- Lead FOH meetings and shift huddles to align on goals and expectations
- Collaborate with Marketing, Training, and Catering leaders as needed
- Support store-wide initiatives and events
Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience in quick-service or hospitality preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to lead and inspire a diverse team
- High level of accountability and attention to detail
- Passion for guest service and team development
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
