Description

Tyler Technologies’ Salem, Oregon location is seeking a full-time Front-End Designer/Developer to design and develop modern, accessible websites for our state and local government partners. This hybrid role combines user experience design, accessibility, and front-end development within CMS platforms.

You will work closely with customers to gather requirements, design user-friendly experiences, and implement those designs into functional websites. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both designing intuitive interfaces and bringing them to life through front-end development.  You will be part of a small, collaborative team responsible for enhancing existing websites and building new digital experiences that improve how users access government services.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customers to gather requirements, present design solutions, and implement website updates
  • Design user-centered, accessible, and visually engaging website experiences
  • Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for new websites and features
  • Develop and implement front-end solutions within CMS platforms (templates, themes, components)
  • Support and maintain existing customer websites, including implementing content updates, design changes, and feature enhancements
  • Ensure all designs and implementations meet WCAG and Section 508 accessibility standards
  • Evaluate and improve existing websites for usability, accessibility, and performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and content partners
  • Provide timely, thoughtful, and supportive communication to customers
  • Stay current with web design, accessibility, and front-end development best practices

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with HTML and CSS; working knowledge of JavaScript
  • Experience designing and building websites within a CMS environment
  • Strong understanding of UX principles and user-centered design
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508)
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or similar
  • Ability to translate customer needs into both design and functional solutions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical and design concepts clearly
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Self-motivated, creative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with government or public-sector websites
  • Experience modernizing legacy CMS websites
  • Familiarity with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
  • Experience working with ticketing systems or customer request workflows (e.g., Zendesk)
  • Basic understanding of SEO, analytics, or performance optimization

Why This Role Matters

This role bridges the gap between design and development, helping government partners deliver accessible, intuitive, and modern digital experiences. Your work will directly impact how communities interact with public services online.
