Frozen + Refrigerated Grocery Manager

Job Type: Full-time, hourly

Pay Range: $19–22 an hour

Position Summary
The Frozen + Refrigerated Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations of the frozen and refrigerated departments at Pomegranate Market. This includes purchasing, inventory management, merchandising, and ensuring proper product handling and quality. The Manager ensures that department operations reflect Pomegranate’s commitment to natural, organic, and local foods, while meeting financial targets and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Operations & Product Management

• Ensure consistent availability of high-quality frozen and refrigerated products.

• Maintain proper rotation, storage temperatures, and handling to ensure product safety and freshness.

• Keep displays clean, organized, and visually appealing.

• Receive, inspect, and stock deliveries with accuracy and attention to quality.

• Ensure items are labeled and signed correctly with pricing, organic status, and product details.

• Place special orders and assist with customer requests courteously.

Customer Service & Leadership

• Model exceptional customer service and lead by example.

• Promote a team culture rooted in helpfulness, enthusiasm, and accountability.

• Resolve customer concerns with professionalism and care.

• Educate staff and customers on product features, nutrition, and storage tips.

Financial & Inventory Management

• Meet department sales, margin, and labor goals.

• Track shrink and adjust practices to minimize loss.

• Manage purchase orders, pricing, and vendor relationships.

• Participate in monthly inventory counts and ensure accurate record keeping.

Merchandising & Marketing

• Create appealing displays that highlight product quality and align with marketing initiatives.

• Coordinate with the Marketing Team on featured items, sales, and promotions.

• Stay current on industry trends and new frozen and refrigerated product opportunities.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety across all refrigerated and frozen areas.

• Train staff on safe equipment use, including freezers and coolers.

• Report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.

• Uphold Pomegranate’s standards for sustainable and organic product handling.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of grocery experience, preferably in frozen or refrigerated departments, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

• Strong leadership and communication skills.

• Familiarity with organic and natural foods preferred.

• Experience with ordering systems and inventory management.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in cold environments.

• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
