Position Summary: Transportation Lead

Support to transportation with dispatch area, lead training, and to meet and maintain production standards. Work within the department and many areas of the organization, but not limited to; logistics, COP, corporate, vendors, dispatch, retail, and drivers to maintain company standards and customer service. This will be a working leadership position to handle daily functions, issues, and projects and to be seen as a leader and/or go to person in the office under the direction of, and in the absence of, the Transportation Supervisor or Manager. Coordination of retail deliveries with backhauls, for hire, mixing center loads and DC to DC transfers. Be a support person to the Transportation Manager. Assist in special projects, problems, or concerns for the Transportation Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support and assist with dispatch office activities

• Responsible for getting store directions

• Assist in trailer inventory and monitoring of trailers on yard

• Make recommendations for modifications to procedures or processes impacting their work group or distribution center that will maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs.

• Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards in the areas of accuracy, safety and productivity.

• Handle phone calls from store personnel, vendors, and other partnerships regarding service issues & special requests.

• Evaluate coordination of loads to ensure efficient and timely load deliveries to our stores

• Work with Corporate Fleet Manager, with trailer inventory, utilization, tractor replacement, trailer non-movement reporting, and trailer tracking.

• Work with other departments within the facility to achieve and maintain overall production standards.

• Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards in the areas of accuracy, safety and productivity

• Some overnight travel and willingness to work a flexible schedule

• Any other duties assigned by leadership

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age

• Knowledge of DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations along with Transportation Logistics.

• Knowledge of proper use of equipment.

• Reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 70 lbs.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of warehouse and transportation systems

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent customer service, communication, verbal and written skills

• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to perform general mathematical calculations

• Must be proficient with personal computers and office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)
