The Fueling Maintenance Manager is responsible for supporting fueling system operations across multiple states, overseeing the maintenance, repair, and replacement of fueling infrastructure. This includes underground storage tanks (USTs), dispensers, leak detection systems, and associated monitoring equipment.
This is a hands‑on, operational leadership role focused on keeping fueling systems running safely and efficiently. The Fueling Maintenance Manager partners closely with the Director of Facilities, Environmental Compliance, contractors, and internal operations teams to plan, prioritize, and execute repairs, capital upgrades, and contractor‑led construction projects across retail fueling sites.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of fueling systems, including dispensers, USTs, piping, containment, and monitoring equipment
Develop, implement, and manage preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
Review contractor proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates for repairs and construction projects
Manage contractors from mobilization through project completion, ensuring quality, safety, and timeliness
Coordinate repair schedules, site access, and operational impacts with Facilities and Operations teams
Lead construction and major equipment replacement projects, including tanks, piping, monitoring systems, and containment components
Track and report on maintenance activities, open repairs, and project progress across multiple sites
Support and guide compliance staff with alarm resolution, troubleshooting, and coordination of corrective actions
Collaborate with regulatory agencies, internal stakeholders, and service vendors to resolve compliance and performance issues
Direct tank repair, removal, and closure projects, ensuring accurate and timely regulatory documentation
Partner with Environmental Compliance teams to ensure repairs are completed and documented according to regulatory requirements
Travel to field sites as needed to support execution and contractor oversight
Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in fueling systems, UST maintenance, petroleum equipment, or facilities infrastructure operations
Proven experience managing contractors, maintenance programs, and construction projects
Strong technical understanding of fueling system components, equipment lifecycle, and field maintenance practices
Experience reviewing project scopes, bids, and cost proposals
Ability to manage multiple sites, priorities, and timelines in a fast‑paced, multi‑state environment
Strong communication, coordination, and problem‑solving skills
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
Preferred Experience
Retail fueling or petroleum operations
Multi‑state facilities support
Experience partnering with environmental compliance or regulatory teams
Pay for this position is $80,000-$100,000 per year DOE
