Job Description - Full Time Faculty, Adult Education GED Instructor and Special Project Manager

The Adult Education GED Instructor and Special Project Manager will be responsible for managing a GED class and Teen GED intakes, as well as coordinating special projects such as marketing, graduation, assessments and software usage. This position will have a clear working understanding of state policies, instructional methods, federal, state and college ADA policies, will identify and recruit adult education students in need of services, will provide instruction and advising for eligible students; will monitor academic progress; and will collaborate with other teachers to support instruction.

This is a 10 Month Grant Funded Faculty Position

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and deliver multi-level Adult Education/GED instruction in classroom, lab, online, on-campus, and off-site settings, incorporating foundational academic skills and digital, financial, civics, and health literacy as appropriate

  • Create individualized learning plans using TABE scores, practice tests, and student progress data; monitor attendance, assessments, instructional hours, GED Ready exams, and GED completion requirements

  • Advise and support students through GED, WAGE, IET, and Career Service Provider pathways, including referrals for barrier removal, post-graduation resources, and workforce or community partner services

  • Maintain accurate and timely student records in LACES, Connectable, Essential Education, GED.com, and related tracking spreadsheets; update GED progress, monthly/yearly records, graduate information, and required reporting data

  • Coordinate student testing processes, including TABE testing, GED Ready exams, official GED exams, civics rosters and exams, score-release communication with the state office, and student/parent progress updates

  • Assist students with accommodation requests for TABE, classroom instruction, and GED exams; provide accommodation updates and connect students with Arkansas Rehabilitation Services or other appropriate resources as needed

  • Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies, participate in recruiting events, maintain community resource networks, and support partnerships with WIOA Core Partners and other agencies

  • Manage Adult Education communications and outreach efforts, including social media content, graphics, flyers, videos, graduation invitations, and other promotional or student engagement materials

  • Oversee use and implementation of Essential Education, Aztec, Connectable, LACES, and related instructional or reporting systems; provide training and resources to instructors and staff on software, student tracking, attendance, and re-TABE procedures

  • Complete required professional development and state-mandated training in assessment, learning disabilities, literacy, LACES, Career Pathways, Career Service Provider services, WIOA initiatives, and other areas required by the Arkansas Department of Career Education

  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support the goals and objectives of the department and college

Rate of pay: determined by faculty scale placement (education and years of experience)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Must hold a current Arkansas Department of Education Teacher Certificate

  • Obtain Adult Education endorsement within three years of being hired full-time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the organization and administration of various higher education academic and social programs

  • Knowledge of campus and community resources

  • Knowledge of state, federal, and campus rules, regulations, and requirements related to campus academic and social programs

  • Ability to coordinate the activities of campus academic and/or social programs

  • Ability to evaluate collected information and formulate into recommendations

  • Ability to compile information into report form

The work environment typically consists of a professional office setting with a moderate noise level, including sounds from conversations, office equipment, and occasional movement of staff. Lighting is standard for office spaces, and the temperature is controlled to remain within a comfortable range. Employees may occasionally need to visit other areas, such as storage rooms, conference spaces, or outdoor locations, where environmental conditions may vary. Infrequently, exposure to louder noise levels or physical activities, such as moving lightweight materials, might be required.
