Full Time Teacher Assistant

Salary:

Starting at $20.00/hour (depending on experience and education) plus up to $2/hour shift differential.

Schedule:

Monday-Fridays 7am-3pm (year round school)

Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Full Time Teacher Assistant to assist in providing supervision and instruction ensuring a safe and therapeutic classroom environment for all children. • Student Engagement: Assist in conducting classroom activities, preparing instructional materials, providing instruction, review, and practice of skills taught by the Classroom Teacher with individual and small groups of students. Assist in implementing treatment plan and individual education plan methods specific to each child. Assume Classroom Teacher’s duties in his/her absence.
• Student Records: Assist with maintaining classroom and/or student records and documentation and contributes data for progress notes and individual treatment plans.
• Student Relationships: Nurture children through one-on-one communication and care and maintain vigilant supervision. Reinforce instructional/behavioral objectives as needed to maintain an effective classroom learning environment.
• Professional Growth: Provide leadership in efforts to improve the school, student learning and behavior, social skills, and safety.
• Compliance: Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families. Follow Agency and School Policies and Procedures. Support of Agency Goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School Diploma Required

Experience/Skills:

• References that can depict level of interest in working with children who have behavioral issues.
• Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and software utilized by office.
