Job Description - Full-time Associate Director of Recovery Campus

St. Joseph's Addiction Treatment and Recovery Centers



Location: Recovery Campus - Massena, NY



Position: Full-time Associate Director



Shift/schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm



Pay: $85,000.00/year



Position Summary: Administratively and clinically assists in the overall operation of the Residence. Responsible for providing supervision to assigned staff to include ensuring the safety of residents and fulfillment of job descriptions/volunteer expectations. If appropriately credentialed, may be asked to provide clinical supervision to staff including the implementation of modern principles, practices and techniques of chemical dependency. In addition, serves as Primary Counselor when needed at a reduced caseload.

Education and Training: Bachelor’s degree in social work or another Human Services field with three (3) years of relevant experience or CASAC with minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience, including knowledge of populations. One year (1) supervisory experience preferred. Completion of Clinical Supervision training. CPR certification required, QHP preferred.

Essential Duties:



  • Oversee the daily operations of the program and assume the responsibilities of the Program Director in their absence.

  • Support the Program Director in leading an effective program by implementing clinical services, best practices, and operational functions in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage residential program schedules for both residents and staff, overseeing employee schedules, time-off requests, and workflow management to ensure seamless operations.

  • Provide clinical support by maintaining a reduced caseload when necessary to assist Primary Counselors.

  • Assess and monitor residents experiencing withdrawal symptoms using appropriate withdrawal scales.

  • Coordinate auxiliary program services within and outside the agency.

  • Organize and oversee the rotating clinical on-call schedule for weekend crisis coverage.

  • Facilitate conflict resolution between staff and residents, ensuring proper communication channels are followed to minimize disruptions.

  • Assist in identifying and removing barriers that impact direct and indirect care staff, enhancing efficiency and service quality.

  • Ensure the program’s physical environment meets all regulatory requirements, maintaining a clean, safe, and home-like atmosphere.

  • Participate in and facilitate program meetings, clinical discussions, and ad hoc workgroups to support the program’s mission within and beyond the organization.

  • Consult with the Program Director on medical and behavioral health concerns related to risk management.

  • Stay informed on state treatment initiatives, program development trends, and industry advancements to enhance service delivery and program effectiveness.

  • Foster a positive work environment by building strong employee relationships and promoting job satisfaction within the program.

  • Collaborate with the Program Director to establish departmental objectives aligned with organizational goals and agency growth, ensuring high-quality service delivery.

  • Assist in developing and managing the annual budget for assigned areas, monitoring fiscal operations to maintain financial stability.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, OASAS, and CARF standards and regulations, including staff and facility requirements such as designated smoking areas and parking, while assisting with regulatory audits.

  • Implement and adhere to SJATRC’s employee supervision policies.

  • Assist in facilitating weekly House Meetings.

  • Maintain current New York State licenses and credentials as required.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director.

  • Provide consistent and structured supervision to Residential Aides and Volunteers.
