Location: Malone Outpatient Clinic - Malone, NY

Position: Full-time Counselor

Shift/Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Pay Range: $45,000.00/year to $100,000.00year

Position Summary: The Counselor is responsible for assessment, case management, treatment and individual and group counseling for clients, families, and significant others.

Education and Training: High school graduate or equivalent and a NYS Qualified Health Professional. Credentialed Substance Abuse Counselor or Credentialed Alcoholism Counselor preferred. Must be CPR certified. Commitment to continuing education and professional development to maintain licensure and stay informed about best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements: Two years’ specific work experience in the alcoholism field. Demonstrate knowledge of substance abuse, counseling and therapeutic techniques related to alcoholism treatment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with clients and collaborate with other professionals. Organizational skills to manage caseloads and maintain detailed records. Experience working within social services or community outreach programs is beneficial.

Essential Duties:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals through the screening process. Determine clients' ability to work in relation to substance use. Refer individuals deemed unable to work to SUD treatment programs.


• Develop measurable treatment plans based on initial and ongoing assessment.


• Conduct Individual Chemical Dependency counseling including conjoint sessions with significant others.


• Assist in coordinating aftercare plans for clients returning from treatment to ensure continued support and prevent relapse.


• Initiate weekly progress notes and treatment plan review notes that clearly document all treatment received.


• Assist clients in navigating and coordinating care with various service providers to ensure comprehensive treatment and support.


• Offer resources and support to families of individuals suffering from addiction within the community identified by FCDSS


• Provide training to DSS staff on identifying the signs and symptoms of substance use disorders.


• Provide immediate crisis stabilization support to clients experiencing substance-related emergencies.


• Facilitate support and educational groups for individuals, and DSS focusing on the impact of substance use on families and effective coping strategies.


• Educate DSS clients and their families about substance use disorders and the recovery process.


• Responsible for additional duties as may be assigned by Team Lead.
