Position Summary

We’re looking for a dedicated Custodian to keep our facility clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone who walks through our doors. This role is integral in ensuring that our members and guests experience a clean, well-maintained YMCA. If you’re detail-oriented, proactive, and take pride in creating inviting spaces, we’d love to meet you! This full-time position would work Tuesday through Friday from 2:30 to 11:00 PM with a 30 minute meal break and Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM with a 30 minute meal break.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and sanitizing tasks, including dusting, mopping, trash removal, and recycling.
• Conduct seasonal tasks such as snow removal, locker room power washing, and window cleaning.
• Handle minor repairs and report any facility issues or safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Operate motorized and non-motorized cleaning equipment.
• Set up spaces for events, ensuring areas are welcoming and well-prepared.
• Maintain adequate levels of cleaning supplies, replacing items as needed.

Qualifications

• At least six months of custodial experience preferred, but not required.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
• Ability to read and understand instructions, procedures, and maintenance documentation.
• Comfortable operating cleaning equipment and handling minor repairs as needed.

Physical Demands

1. Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties, including lifting up to 50lbs.
2. Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
3. Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
4. Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
5. Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust; and work in humid environment, i.e pool area and locker rooms.
6. Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
