Full-Time Head Lifeguard

The Granite YMCA is hiring a full-time Head Lifeguard/Swim Instructor to support our pool facilities at our YMCA Allard Center of Goffstown location. This person will play a key role in leading our staff teams while supporting the needs of our members and ensuring safety in all areas of the pool area.

Opportunity for advancement for interested candidates and employees since we promote from within: nearly all of our Coordinators, Assistant Director and Directors started out as part-time Lifeguards.

The ideal candidate has at least 2years of lifeguarding and/or teaching experience and currently holds a Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard certification. Our facility boasts an indoor competition pool, indoor warm teaching pool, and outdoor seasonal pool.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise Aquatics staff in the absence of the Aquatics Director or Coordinator.
• Some hours of administrative support on a weekly basis.
• Understands emergency procedures and recognizes and responds to emergency situations in the pool area.
• Maintains effective, positive relationships with members, participants and other team members.
• Understands and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool area. Takes responsibility for implementing and supporting change of policies/procedures.
• Maintains accurate pool records as required by the YMCA and state/local Health Department code.
• Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed; this includes rescue equipment and well stocked fanny packs and first aid kits.

Position Specifics:

• Schedule is dependent upon candidate availability and department needs at time of hire
• The incumbent will be scheduled for four weekdays and one weekend day
• Free Lifeguard recertification provided by the YMCA if needed
• Must be 18 years or older
