Bucks County Community College invites applications for a Full-Time, Special Term Contract Instructor position in Communication Studies. The faculty member will deliver high-quality instruction in a variety of communication courses and support the academic mission of the College by fostering student success, promoting an inclusive learning environment, and contributing to departmental activities consistent with the scope of a term-limited faculty appointment. The ideal candidate will be attuned to area trends, have a vision for the future of communication studies, and contribute to the development of a curriculum that prepares students for the future job market. 

Responsibilities 

  • Teach courses such as Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Small Group Communication, and Introduction to Communication Studies. 

  • Develop and deliver course materials consistent with departmental and institutional learning outcomes. 

  • Use effective, student-centered teaching practices and maintain accurate course documentation. 

  • Provide timely feedback, hold office hours, and refer students to support services as needed. 

  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and curriculum or assessment activities related to term faculty responsibilities. 

  • Advise students in communication studies and related areas. 

  • Contribute to the area’s strategic revision to meet the needs of contemporary employers. 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in Communication Studies, or a related field with 18 graduate credits in Communication Studies. 

  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness; community college experience preferred. 

  • Ability to support diverse learners and apply inclusive instructional practices. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • A PhD in Communication Studies. 

  • Experience with online/hybrid instruction and learning management systems. 

  • Background in intercultural communication or public speaking pedagogy. 

  • Experience with learning outcomes assessment. 

  • Demonstrated leadership is the field and a willingness to tackle complex problems 

This position requires availability to teach at all campuses and through all modalities. The position will remain open until filled.

Appointment: January 19, 2026
