Job Description - FVP - Director of Specialty Banking
Purpose: The FVP - Director of Specialty Banking is responsible for spearheading new business initiatives and development specifically within the cannabis-related banking sector. This role encompasses the growth of business DDA balances, loans (where appropriate), fee income, remote deposit, cash management, and merchant services. The director will be pivotal in managing overall relationships and cross-selling specialized banking products while providing an exemplary level of service targeted at small to medium-sized businesses and professional clients within the cannabis industry including marijuana, CBD, and hemp-related businesses. Compliance with bank policies and adherence to regulations specific to the cannabis industry are critical. Attaining established individual, departmental, and bank goals through active participation in sales management and direct client engagement programs is essential.
Essential Job Functions: • Strategic Business Development: Lead strategic initiatives to cultivate new business while focusing on the specific needs of the cannabis-related market. Ensure the effective communication of the bank's offerings to this sector, maintaining regulatory compliance throughout all operations. • Client Relationship Management: Take ownership of new client relationships specific to the cannabis industry as they are onboarded by designated lenders. Serve as the primary liaison between lenders and clients, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned and supported throughout the engagement. • Sales Management: Oversee and manage the sales process specific to cannabis banking, ensuring a tailored approach. Design and implement a detailed sales action plan dedicated to the acquisition and retention of cannabis industry clients. • Networking and Engagement: Coordinate and participate in regular sales engagements, including daily, weekly, and monthly calls or meetings with attorneys, CPAs, and other key referral sources who specialize in or support the cannabis industry. • Performance Reporting: Maintain an active pipeline report and prepare sales reports specific to specialty banking efforts, presenting results and strategies in weekly/monthly meetings. • Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with business partners across lending and cash management to enhance service offerings and resolve challenges unique to the cannabis sector. • Event Participation: Participate in industry-specific events and possibly weekends or business-related social events to drive business development and foster a network of influence within the cannabis market. • Professional Development: Keep abreast of trends, compliance regulations, and market movements within the cannabis banking industry to adapt strategies accordingly and uphold FCSB's competitive edge.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Superior presentation, communication, and customer service skills, particularly adjusted to meet the specialized needs of the cannabis industry. • A degree in Business Administration or a similar field; additional certification or training related to cannabis business compliance is highly beneficial. • A minimum of 10 years of experience in sales, preferably with significant exposure to or focus on specialty markets such as cannabis-related banking.
