Position: Garden Center Seasonal Associate

Schedule: Seasonal Full-time and Part-time opportunities available. April 1st though July 4th.

Age Requirements: Must be 18 years or older

As a garden center associate you will be responsible for engaging with customers to ensure they are sufficiently finding products, watering and caring for plants, receiving shipments, facility cleaning and maintenance, safely moving products, performing physical inventories, cashing out customers, loading customer vehicles as well as other tasks.

Tasks will require the ability to move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs, the ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 lbs with the assistance of proper material handling equipment (e.g. pallet jack), lift or reach merchandise overhead, and frequently perform the movements of standing, kneeling, twisting, crouching, squatting, bending, stooping and climbing ladders.

What will make me a standout candidate:

• Experience working in a labor intense environment
• Customer service, cashier, accounting office and/or service desk experience, particularly in a retail setting
• Write and speak clearly, concisely and with tact in a variety of settings using effective communication skills; demonstrating empathy and respect for others at all times
• Experience leading a team or project.

Work environment: Mackey’s is a fast paced retail environment that involves continuous interaction with customers, team members, and the ongoing evolution of the store. Responsibilities require active movements that include reaching, bending, and lifting. Product weights range from 5 – 60 lbs., with occasional variances due to product condition. Seasonality of the business and corresponding product offerings involves the exposure to varying temperatures and allergens. Environment requires spending a prolonged period of time on her or his feet, standing or walking, continuously between breaks.
