Job Summary
The Gateway Technician is responsible for Video Teleconferencing systems and maintenance of Audio Visual/Video Teleconferencing (AV/VTC) systems for nationwide and international Agency partners at Kennedy Space Center. The Gateway Technician sets up and maintains equipment for audio and video conferencing and teleconferencing meeting needs. The Gateway Technician also troubleshoots equipment and network configurations.
This is a represented staff position with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).
Duties/Responsibilities
Provide support for all network equipment related to the wide area network WAN as well as mission-related network equipment.
Performs occasional validation tests; assists customers with setup and operation of hardware/software requirements during meetings.
After installation of AV/VTC equipment, perform dry-runs test for customers. Verify full-motion video, graphics, and audio quality prior to the conference. Operate front, rear, and graphic cameras, audio level controls, record and playback equipment, and video scan converter.
Performs configuration control of computer systems used for presentations.
Records AV/VTCs and other official events as requested and archives recordings as required. Maintains facility usage reports, attendance lists, and produce reports as required.
Provide recommendations on improved equipment reliability and conference quality.
Make recommendations to improve work quality, efficiencies, and productivity.
Adhere to OSHA, NASA, and Aetos safety requirements.
May assist in training others
Required Minimum Education:
High school diploma
Required Years of Experience:
Four (4) years related experience or successful completion of a State or Military approved bona fide work-related apprenticeship program recognized by the US Department of Labor.
