Position Summary

The General Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting the dealership's accounting operations by performing a variety of accounting, billing, reconciliation, and clerical functions. This position plays a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with dealership procedures and accounting standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and reconcile daily bank deposits.


• Post accounting entries and dealership transactions.


• Stock in new vehicle inventory and maintain vehicle records.


• Reconcile general ledger accounts and schedules.


• Reconcile cash accounts, reserve accounts, floor plan payable accounts, and factory receivables.


• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.


• Reconcile and deposit service and parts receipts, including credit card transactions.


• Enter cash receipts and maintain accurate customer account records.


• Assist with title and registration documentation as needed.


• Reconcile warranty and aftermarket product accounts.


• Input vehicle inventory and process customer deal closings.


• Maintain accurate filing systems and accounting records.


• Cross-train with other accounting office personnel.


• Ensure compliance with dealership policies, internal controls, and applicable regulations.


• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.


• Previous automotive dealership accounting experience required.


• Experience with automotive billing, title work, registrations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or dealership accounting processes preferred.


• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Working Conditions

This position works primarily in a professional office environment within a busy automotive dealership. Candidates must be able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Compensation

Pay Range: $17.00 – $22.00 per hour (based on experience)
