General Cleaner (South NJ)

The Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with ABM to find qualified candidates for a Cleaner in New Jersey. The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall condition of assigned buildings and facilities. This role supports daily operations by ensuring spaces are clean, sanitary, and safe for occupants and visitors. Cleaners perform a variety of tasks including waste removal, surface cleaning, floor care, and restroom maintenance while following established safety procedures. The position plays an important role in supporting a positive environment by upholding cleanliness standards and responding to facility needs as they arise.

• Clean and maintain buildings and facilities, including floors, walls, ceilings, and equipment
• Sweep, mop, wax, strip, seal, finish, and polish floors using appropriate equipment
• Gather and empty trash and maintain clean waste areas
• Clean and restock restrooms and maintain sanitation standards
• Dust furniture, fixtures, and surfaces throughout the facility
• Clean windows, mirrors, and glass partitions using appropriate tools and materials
• Safely use chemical cleaners and power equipment following established procedures
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies to support cleaning activities

• Must have customer service experience and at least one year of related work experience in cleaning. 
• Candidates must be able to bend, reach, stretch, and lift at least 25 lbs. throughout their entire shift and stand for long periods of time.
• Open availability to work all shifts.
• Reliable transportation and attendance
• Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, weekends, or overtime
• Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and equipment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills
