About the Role:

Midea Group seeks an accomplished General Counsel of Americas to lead its legal, compliance, and risk management functions across the Americas region. This executive role will serve as the chief legal advisor to the Americas leadership team, ensuring alignment with Midea Group’s global business objectives while navigating complex regulatory, litigation, and commercial challenges. The ideal candidate will combine deep legal expertise with strategic acumen to drive growth and mitigate risk in a dynamic multinational environment. 

Key Responsibilities：

1. Legal Leadership & Strategy:

- Serve as the primary legal advisor to the Americas executive team, providing strategic counsel on corporate governance, commercial transactions, litigation, compliance, and intellectual property. 

- Develop and implement regional legal strategies that align with Midea Group’s global priorities, including market expansion, risk mitigation, and ESG initiatives. 

2. Team & Cross-Border Management:

- Lead a high-performing legal team, including the  Head of Litigation, Chief Compliance Counsel, Chief IP Counsel, and North America Legal Director. 

- Foster seamless collaboration with the Midea Group Global General Counsel (China)，and international legal teams to ensure consistency in policies, disputes, and compliance. 

3. Risk & Compliance Oversight:

- Ensure compliance with U.S., Canadian, and Latin American laws (e.g., trade regulations, product safety, data privacy, antitrust). 

- Proactively identify emerging legal risks (e.g., CPSC, ITC, DOJ investigations) and design preventive measures. 

4. Commercial & Dispute Resolution:

- Oversee negotiations for high-stakes commercial agreements, joint ventures, and M&A activity. 

- Manage litigation and external counsel, optimizing outcomes for product liability, IP disputes, labor issues, and trade compliance (e.g., anti-dumping). 

5. Stakeholder Engagement:

- Represent Midea in dealings with regulators, industry groups, and external partners. 

- Deliver training to business teams on legal best practices and regulatory updates. 

Qualifications:

Education & Credentials:

- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; admission to the New Jersey state bar (clean disciplinary record required). 

- 15+ years of progressive legal experience, including senior leadership in a multinational corporation or top-tier law firm. 

Professional Expertise:

- Proven track record in managing diverse legal functions (corporate, compliance, litigation, IP) across the Americas. 

- Deep knowledge of U.S. and international business law, with experience in manufacturing, consumer goods, or technology sectors. 

- Experience liaising with China-based headquarters or other global teams; Mandarin proficiency is a strong plus.

- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. 

- High integrity and discretion in handling sensitive matters. 

Work Environment & Requirements:

- Hybrid work model with presence in Parsippany, NJ headquarters. 

- Occasional travel to Midea Group offices (U.S., Latin America, China) and regulatory/legal proceedings.
