General Laborer at Shiel Sexton:

The General Laborer works as a member of a diverse crew performing a variety of interior and exterior construction responsibilities, mostly pertaining to the installation of firestop systems at commercial sites.

This is an entry-level position; we are willing to train motivated individuals!

Role Expectations and Competencies:

• Assist with the installation of firestopping materials, including sealants, caulks, collars, wraps, and fire-rated systems


• Prepare and clean work areas before and after installation


• Load, unload, and transport materials and tools to job sites


• Measure, cut, and apply firestop products according to specifications


• Seal penetrations and joints in walls, floors, and ceilings to maintain fire-resistance ratings


• Follow project drawings, specifications, and supervisor instructions


• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition


• Adhere to all OSHA and company safety policies

Experience and Qualifications:

• No experience necessary, but experience in caulking, drywalling, and/or general labor preferred.


• Eagerness to learn and grow skills in the general construction field.


• Must be safety-minded and comfortable working with scaffold systems, shoring, weather protection, and installation of fall protection systems.


• Must have reliable transportation and be able to submit to a background check and drug screening.
