General Laborer - Block Handler

Key Duties/Responsibilities

This block handler is responsible for moving 60-pound blocks of frozen meat to the microwave belt for tempering and then removing the cases and taking the box and liner off prior to moving to grinding. 

• Move cases form the pallet to the microwave infeed belt following safe lifting guidelines 
• After the cases exit the microwave, they will be palletized or prepared for grinding
• For immediate use, the Handler will remove the case and liner and push the block into position to feed grinder
• Conduct a safety inspection on pallet jack prior to use according to guidelines
• Transport products and trash to and from various locations within the production floor
• Pick up and clean meat off from the floor
• Manage pallets and other supplies in specified areas
• Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area 
• Performs other related duties as requested; This position will rotate general laborer positions including stacker, scaler, and block handler, for breaks and lunches or as directed.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Basic math, language, and reading skills
• Ability to handle equipment and vehicles safely and sensibly

Physical Requirements

• Ability to maintain a single task focus and situational awareness
• Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping
• Must be able to move and lift up to 80-pounds.
• Able to work in a cold refrigerated environment for up to 10 hours
