General Manager – Civil Construction & Telecom Infrastructure | Eastern North Carolina
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead and scale our $10M civil construction and telecom drilling operations division in Eastern North Carolina. This is a high-impact, entrepreneurial leadership role reporting directly to the President/Owner, with full P&L responsibility and the opportunity to drive aggressive growth as part of our company's expansion from $35M to $50M in total revenue.
Job Responsibilities
Operational & Financial Leadership
Manage full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for $10M civil construction and telecom drill operations business unit
Act as senior point of contact for telecom carriers, tower companies, general contractors, and property owners
Lead construction estimating, quoting processes, scope development, and contract negotiations
Expand market presence and develop strategic plans to scale division revenue toward $50M target
Identify and pursue geographic expansion and new service line opportunities in telecom infrastructure
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 20-25 employees including Operations Managers, Project Managers, superintendents, drilling foremen, administrators, and field crews
Build and maintain a culture of accountability, safety excellence, and high performance
Recruit, retain, and develop top construction talent while creating succession planning strategies
Model and reinforce core company values: Integrity, Loyalty, Hunger, Safety, and High Performance
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations and telecom-specific safety standards
Oversee comprehensive safety programs, training initiatives, incident investigations, and corrective action plans
Maintain all required licensing, certifications, and regulatory compliance for civil construction and drilling operations
Job Requirements
Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in civil construction and/or telecom infrastructure projects (civil construction experience is required)
Minimum 5+ years in senior leadership roles with full P&L accountability and financial management
Proven track record operating at $25M-$50M revenue scale in construction or infrastructure sectors
Strong background in construction estimating and business development (or willingness to work with dedicated estimator)
Deep technical knowledge of civil construction methods, telecom drilling operations, and tower infrastructure
Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to operate division as owner-operator
Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills
Comfortable thriving in a family-oriented, fast-growing construction company environment
Willingness to complete Culture Index assessment as part of hiring process
Must be based in or willing to relocate to Eastern North Carolina, with preference for Charlotte, Lexington, or Goldsboro markets
