Job Description - General Manager


We are seeking a General Manager for our Ankeny, Iowa facility to help us continue to support our customers and grow our business. The successful candidate will be responsible for the entire Value Stream, including Profit and Loss, for the assigned plant operations while supporting the Corporate Vision, Mission and Strategic goals. This individual will supervise a direct staff and lead, coach, direct and coordinate activities of all operational department(s) in manufacturing products by performing the following responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations.
  • Drive manufacturing operating policy supported by lean concepts, to realize business strategy.
  • Drive best practices and has accountability for all aspects of plant performance, ensuring objectives are attained in a cost-effective manner that is consistent with customer, quality and safety requirements, and ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
  • Support, co-coordinate, and initiate sales opportunities with corporate sales team.
  • Guide, coach and support team members and teams to perform their roles successfully. Also includes, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems to support HR Vision and Mission.

MEASURABLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • YOY sales/volume increase, to support corporate strategic growth goals.
  • Meet or exceed financial metrics.
  • Zero Defects; ensure overall operations of the Plant are in conformance with the Quality System.
  • 100% on-time delivery.
  • Zero OSHA recordables.
  • YOY turnover reduction, until we reach national marketplace average.
  • Recruiting days to fill less than 90 on average.
  • Kanban, 5S organized facility.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS

  • Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology or Business or equivalent work experience (20+ years manufacturing leadership experience).
  • 10-15 years of experience in operations management, in highly engineered, plastic injection molding industry, with P&L responsibility at a plant/division level.
  • Experience as a people leader with strong business acumen and analytical ability.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills.
  • Problem solving aptitude.
  • Experience in being the lead change agent in complex transformational activities.
  • Must have a passion for and strong beliefs in constant improvement.
