Job Description - General Manager

This is an opportunity to lead something new.

The newly branded Hyatt Select Nashville Opryland is entering an exciting new chapter following a full renovation and brand transformation. We are looking for a dynamic, hands-on General Manager who is ready to bring the hotel to life, build a strong team and culture, and establish the property as a standout hotel in the Nashville Opryland market.

The General Manager will have full responsibility for the hotel’s performance, including team leadership, guest experience, commercial strategy, financial results, and operational excellence. This leader will be highly visible throughout the hotel and the local community, with a strong focus on driving revenue, developing talent, and creating an experience that reflects both Hyatt standards and the energy of Nashville.

For the right leader, this is more than an opportunity to operate a hotel—it is an opportunity to shape its identity, build its reputation, and lead its next chapter from the ground up.

Requirements

Leadership & Culture

  • Build a culture centered on trust, transparency, accountability, and results.
  • Recruit, develop, coach, and retain a high-performing hotel leadership team.
  • Establish clear expectations and create an environment where employees feel connected to the hotel’s success.
  • Maintain a highly visible leadership presence with employees and guests.
  • Develop future leaders through ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and succession planning.

Hotel Operations & Guest Experience

  • Lead all aspects of hotel operations with a relentless focus on service, cleanliness, quality, and consistency.
  • Ensure the newly renovated hotel is maintained to exceptional standards and delivers on the Hyatt guest experience.
  • Tour the hotel and operating departments regularly, identifying opportunities and ensuring timely follow-through.
  • Partner with department leaders to maintain strong operational standards, preventive maintenance programs, and property condition.
  • Ensure compliance with Hyatt brand standards, Avion Hospitality standards, and all applicable safety and regulatory requirements.

Sales, Revenue & Market Presence

  • Serve as an active commercial leader and ambassador for the hotel within the Nashville and Opryland community.
  • Partner closely with Sales and Revenue Management to develop strategies that drive occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, market share, and total hotel revenue.
  • Build relationships with key accounts, clients, community partners, and demand generators.
  • Participate personally in sales efforts, including key account calls, client meetings, site tours, receptions, and relationship-building activities.
  • Identify new opportunities to capitalize on the hotel’s renovated product, new brand positioning, and location within one of Nashville’s most active hospitality markets.

Financial & Business Performance

  • Own the hotel’s overall financial performance, including revenue generation, profitability, labor management, expense control, and flow-through.
  • Develop annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and business plans in partnership with corporate leadership.
  • Analyze performance and market trends and take decisive action when results are not meeting expectations.
  • Hold department leaders accountable for productivity, expense management, and financial performance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of financial reporting, accounts payable, and corporate accounting requirements.

Talent Development & Compliance

  • Ensure strong recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management practices throughout the hotel.
  • Interview and select key leadership talent and maintain appropriate oversight of hotel hiring decisions.
  • Ensure managers consistently provide coaching, recognition, accountability, and performance feedback.
  • Maintain compliance with Avion Hospitality policies, Hyatt requirements, employment practices, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Create a workplace where high performers can grow and build careers in hospitality.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive hotel leadership experience, with previous General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or senior hotel operations experience strongly preferred.
  • Hyatt or comparable branded hotel experience preferred.
  • Experience leading a renovated, repositioned, newly opened, or newly branded hotel is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations, sales, revenue management, financial performance, and talent leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong teams and drive measurable business results.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with hotel technology, financial reporting tools, spreadsheets, and standard business applications.
  • Valid driver's license as required by the position.
