UCHOPA is much more than a treat shop and leading it is much more than a job.

It is a special opportunity to steward the growth of the foundational core of an expanding HOPA Ecosystem, which encompasses a force for worldwide Hawai’i, Ohana, and Pure Aloha transformation through business and community activities.

We are seeking a highly motivated and competent General Manager to lead with heart, drive operational excellence, and grow a 10+ person team committed to spreading the spirit of Pure Aloha.

As the General Manager, you will be the cornerstone of House operations and company culture. Your first focus will be on making UCHOPA profitable by stabilizing then optimizing store operations.

Next, you will be executing on new strategic growth initiatives. As General Manager, you will help ensure that UCHOPA not only thrives financially but also fosters a culture of warmth, inclusivity, and community engagement by strategizing, innovating, and leading initiatives that also grow our company’s community presence as a beacon of Pure Aloha spirit.

Your success as GM starts by building a strong foundation of organizational knowledge and relevant skills through an intensive initial training and on-going development program.

You will receive direct mentorship with co-founders–Uncle Clay and Bronson Chang–and training from the current management team, to ensure you are empowered and well resourced with the tools, information, and skills to be successful and grow toward greater autonomy in your position.

Full-Time: flexible/dynamic schedule, 40 hours per week, in-person (not remote)
Compensation: hourly or salaried, 1st year $30-50k base plus up to $70k bonus value (will vary based on experience), plus medical and other benefits

Summary of Key Responsibilities & Functions

Cultural Stewardship

:

Champion the Pure Aloha culture by embodying and promoting our core values and principles in every aspect of the operation.

Lead and promote HOPA's Pure Aloha culture, core values, and guiding principles.
Represent the House in community events, build partnerships, and contribute to the local community.

Operational Excellence

:

Oversee all operational aspects of the House, ensuring seamless, efficient, and effective functioning that meets the highest standards of quality and guest satisfaction.

Ensure stable and seamless operations through in-house presence with team members and guests
Scheduling and planning shift deployments and executing store operations during scheduled shifts, including fulfilling various hosting and serving roles (Greeter, Cashier, Front Kitchen, Back Kitchen, Retail) as needed; organizing and executing opening and closing duties
Ensuring compliance to operational policies and procedures, such as cash handling, safety and security, and health/sanitation.
Improve operations by leading and streamlining processes and optimizing workflows
Identify opportunities to improve store operations, such as extended operating hours and strategic promotions, to increase revenue and optimize performance.
Manage various administrative responsibilities, including vendor relations, inventory, and financial administration
Monitor key business indicators, identify areas of improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize processes and drive continuous improvement.

Team Development

:

Cultivate a supportive and empowering environment for all team members through mentorship, regular feedback, and professional growth opportunities.

Recruitment and hiring, new Team Member orientation and training, and ongoing coaching, counseling, disciplining, and inspiring of Team Members
Developing authentic and positive relationships with shift team by understanding and addressing individual motivation, needs, and concerns
Implement training and development programs to enhance the skills and performance of team members.
Ensure compliance with operational policies and procedures
Organizing, facilitating, and participating in online House Team communications, in-person meetings, and retreats
Organizing, and participating in team socials
Organizing, and participating in volunteer/community events and activities

Strategic Growth : Develop and execute growth strategies that align with UCHOPA’s mission of community engagement and sustainable profitability.
Develop and execute strategic plans to drive business growth and achieve organizational objectives, with a primary focus on making UCHOPA profitable.
Support and drive new growth initiatives, including market research, feasibility evaluations, and implementation of strategic plans.
Stay updated on local market dynamics, industry trends, competition, and customer preferences to inform business strategies and continuously adapt and innovate our offerings and operational practices.

Other
Maintaining regular and punctual attendance
Completing HOPA’s management training program as outlined
Participation in management and leadership development coaching to support continued personal and professional growth

Basic Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of managerial experience, preferably (but not required) in retail, hospitality, or foodservice industries.
Proven track record of successfully managing operations, achieving targets, and driving organizational and business growth.
Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
Proficient in utilizing technology and software for communication and operational purposes.
Solid understanding of foodservice business, including branding, marketing, and operations.
Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical ability to perform tasks required in a fast-paced environment.
