This is the flagship operation in a national PE-backed home services platform — a ~$90M residential business spanning HVAC, plumbing, and electrical across the Kansas City metro. With approximately 250 employees and multiple functional departments, this is the largest and most complex brand in the portfolio. The platform is actively investing in operational excellence, leadership development, and growth across its national footprint.
This is a business that has already achieved significant scale. What it needs now is a GM who can lead through leaders — someone with true multi-unit caliber who can set the standard for what operational excellence looks like across the entire platform.
You own the full P&L for a ~$90M business with seven direct reports leading departments across service, install, sales, dispatch, and operations. You're not managing technicians — you're leading the leaders who manage them. Your job is to build organizational capability, set the operating rhythm, drive accountability through your leadership team, and ensure every department is aligned and executing against plan.
This is a lead-through-leaders role. At $90M with 250 employees, you cannot be in every meeting, on every call, or at every job site. The right GM builds a leadership bench that doesn't need them in the room to execute. You set the vision, build the team, install the systems, and hold the standard. Your direct reports run the day-to-day. You run the business.
You've led at this scale before. You've run a $50M+ operation — ideally $75M+ — with 150–300 employees and a management layer between you and the frontline. You know how to set strategy, cascade it through a leadership team, and hold people accountable to results without micromanaging. You've done this in home services, field services, or a closely adjacent industry.
You lead through leaders. This is the defining trait for this role. You don't try to be the best technician, the best dispatcher, or the best closer. You hire people who are, and you make them better. You coach, you develop, you give hard feedback, and you build a team that operates at a high level whether you're in the building or not.
Home services is your world. You understand residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical — the economics, the seasonality, the customer lifecycle, the labor dynamics, the dispatch model. Candidates with direct home services experience will be strongly prioritized. This is a nuanced industry, and at $90M there is no runway to learn it on the job.
You're a systems thinker. At this scale, gut instinct isn't enough. You build repeatable processes, you standardize workflows, and you create operating systems that let the business run consistently across departments. You know that the difference between a $90M business that's thriving and one that's just surviving is the quality of its systems.
You thrive in a PE-backed environment. You understand the rhythm of private equity — monthly reporting, quarterly reviews, KPI accountability, and an orientation toward value creation and eventual exit. You don't fight the structure; you leverage it to drive performance.
You set the culture. In a 250-person organization, culture doesn't happen by accident. You're intentional about it. You model accountability, transparency, and service excellence, and you make sure your leadership team does the same. You don't tolerate managers who hit their numbers but poison the culture.
