General Mechanic J3

 The General Mechanic keeps the paper mill running smoothly and safely. This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and fixing heavy industrial production machinery.
 Key Responsibilities
 

Preventative Maintenance: Inspect heavy mill machinery daily to catch problems early.

Mechanical Repairs: Fix pumps, valves, conveyor belts, gearboxes, and hydraulic systems.

Equipment Alignment: Use precision tools like lasers to align shafts, motors, and bearings.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex machine failures quickly to minimize factory downtime.

Welding & Fabrication: Cut, shape, and weld metal parts to repair or modify machinery.

Rigging: Safely lift and move heavy equipment using cranes, hoists, and chains.

Safety Compliance: Follow all OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) rules, and mill safety policies.

 Required Qualifications
 

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience. Paper mill experience is highly preferred.

Technical Skills: Proficient in reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.

Certifications: Journey-level mechanic status or a relevant technical degree is a plus.

 Physical Requirements
 

Lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

Stand, walk, and climb for long periods.

Work comfortably in hot, humid, and noisy industrial settings.

Work safely in confined spaces or at heights.

 Work Schedule
 

Full-time position.

Must be willing to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime for emergency repairs.
