Job Description - General Sales Manager

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented General Sales Manager (GSM) to lead our sales operations and drive continued growth.


Position Overview


The General Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the dealership’s sales department, including new and pre-owned vehicle sales, desking, forecasting, and team leadership. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong track record in automotive sales leadership and a passion for developing high-performing teams.


Key Responsibilities



  • Lead, mentor, and develop the sales team to achieve and exceed sales targets

  • Manage daily sales operations, including desking deals and closing transactions

  • Monitor performance metrics and implement strategies to improve profitability

  • Forecast sales goals and maintain appropriate inventory levels

  • Ensure exceptional customer satisfaction and retention

  • Collaborate with Finance, Service, and Parts departments to maximize dealership performance

  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations

  • Recruit, train, and retain top sales talent


Qualifications



  • 5+ years of automotive sales management experience (GSM or Sales Manager level preferred)

  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving profitability

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills

  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities

  • Experience with CRM systems and dealership management software

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Job Type: Full-Time, 40-45 hours, nights and Saturdays are required.
