Job Description - General Superintendent

Job Summary


The General Superintendent is a critical leader in T&T Construction Management Group's field operations, responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and execution of multiple concrete construction projects. This role involves direct supervision of project superintendents, field crews, and subcontractors, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, to the highest quality standards, and within budget and schedule. The General Superintendent will serve as a key liaison between project management, field operations, and clients, safety, driving productivity, quality and problem-solving. The General Superintendent
frequently visits job sites within their Area.
 


 


Project Oversight & Management: 



  • The General Superintendent will oversee and manage the daily operations of multiple concrete construction projects simultaneously. 



  • In an Area performing $15 million+ revenues, the General Superintendent manages up to four projects and may need to serve as a working superintendent to start and finish jobs. 



  • Collaborate with superintendents, foremen, and project managers to develop detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans. 



  • Ensure all projects adhere to specifications, drawings, and quality standards. 



  • Daily monitor progress and cost controls of multiple projects, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track. 



  • Conduct regular site visits to assess performance, quality, safety and cleanliness compliance, and equipment readiness. 


 


Team Leadership & Supervision: 



  • Directly supervise, coach, mentor, develop, and support project superintendents, foremen, and field personnel. 



  • The General Superintendent provides direction to superintendents regarding their
    management and oversight of internal self-performing functions such as rodbusting, finishing, equipment operators and subcontractors.
     



  • Provide guidance and leadership to field teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment, and cultivating career pathway opportunities for employee longevity. 



  • Conduct regular performance evaluations for superintendents and identify training needs. 



  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and efficient deployment of labor and equipment across projects. 


 


Communication & Coordination: 



  • Serve as a primary point of contact for project-related operational issues with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. 



  • Facilitate effective communication between field teams, project management, and other 


departments. 



  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, safety reports, and other required documentation. 



  • Participate in project meetings, pre-construction meetings, and client reviews. 


 


Safety & Quality Control:
Champion a proactive safety culture on all job sites, ensuring strict adherence to company safety policies and OSHA regulations. 



  • Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate hazards. 



  • Oversee the implementation of quality control plans and ensure all work meets or exceeds established quality benchmarks. 



  • Address and resolve any quality deficiencies promptly. 


 


Resource Management: 



  • Coordinate the procurement and delivery of materials, equipment, and tools to meet project demands. 



  • Optimize the utilization of company resources, including manpower and heavy equipment. 



  • Manage site logistics, including material handling, storage, and waste management. 


 


Problem Solving & Conflict Resolution:
Proactively identify and resolve construction-related problems, conflicts, and challenges on job site. 



  • Implement effective solutions to maintain project momentum and minimize disruptions. 



  • Manage and resolve any disputes or issues with subcontractors or suppliers. 


 


Qualifications:  



  • High School Diploma or GED . Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred. 



  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in concrete construction, with at least 5 years in a superintendent or senior foreman role, managing multiple projects or large­ scale, $8 to $10 million concrete scopes. 



  • Proven experience overseeing various concrete construction projects, including foundations, high tolerance industrial floor slabs, tilt-up, elevated decks, and structural concrete.

    construction equipment.
     


 


Work Environment:  



  • Will be a combination of office and construction job site work environments. 



  • Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, vests, boots, and earplugs. 


Travel Required:  



  • Travel is throughout the Area, which may be a two-hour commute to certain job sites.
    Must be willing and able to travel for company purposes, job sites, organizational meetings, events, training, business development opportunities and industry events.
